Karnataka government is not in a hurry to re-open shools colleges. Addressing the press conference in Bangaluru Friday B S Yediyurappa said that the safety of students comes first when taking any decision regarding the reopening of schools and colleges in the state. 'We will see what is the situation first, parents also need to agree and then we will make a decision'. he said.
Amid a spike in cases, Yediyurappa had chaired a meeting with Deputy Commissioners, Zilla Panchayat CEOs, Police Superintendents and District Health officers of 10 districts in the state that have high positive cases, via video conferencing. The fatality rate in Karnataka stood at 1.4 percent. The CM has also directed officials to check the pandemic and bring down the death rate by identifying primary and secondary contacts of those infected, conduct target-based testing, and provide the necessary treatment.The state government has reduced the fine amount for not wearing a face mask in public to 250 from 1,000 in urban areas and to 100 from 500 in rural areas. As per reports, Karnataka is recording 10 K COVID per day.
Meanwhile, A Karnataka court has ordered an FIR or first information report against actor Kangana Ranaut over her tweet in which she had slammed the protests against the Centre's farm laws. The Tumakuru district took the action based on a complaint by a lawyer.
