In UP, one working IPS officer resigned from the service to join the politics. A 1994 batch UP cadre IPS officer and first Kanpur Police Commissioner Asim Arun has taken VRS. He has joined ruling BJP and likely to contest in the upcoming Assembly polls on a BJP ticket from his native place Kannauj Sadar. He met UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Saturday and joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. His father late Sriram Arun has been DGP of UP. Asim Arun was born on 3 October 1970 in Badaun. His mother late Shashi Arun has been a well-known writer. Expressing his gratitude towards Adityanath, Asim Arun said, "I will try to serve the party while using my past experience of police along with my capabilities to take progressive steps to develop the system." In his statement posted on Facebook, Asim Arun stated that he has sought the VRS because he wants to serve the nation and the society in a different manner.
Meanwhile one UP Police officer has reportedly taken VRS. As per reports, the voluntary retirement notice of Rajeshwr Singh has reportedly been accepted. He is 1994 batch UP Police officer and presently posted as Joint Director, Enforcement Directorate in Lucknow on deputation. He had submitted his VR application in August last year. According to soures he may likely to join the BJP and likely fight the assembly election from Ghaziabad district.
