Justice Bhandari to Acting CJ, Allahabad HC

Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari has been appointed as acting Chief Justice of Allahabad High Court with effect from 26th June, 2021 following retirement of Justice Sanjay Yadav. A notification in this regard has been issued on Tuesday,June 22,2021.
Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari was enrolled as an Advocate on 29thMay, 1983 and practiced in the Rajasthan High Court, Central Administrative Tribunal, Supreme Court in Constitutional, Civil, Service, Labour, Criminal and Arbitration matters and specialized in Constitutional, Service, Labour and Arbitration matters. He was appointed as an Additional Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on July 5, 2007. He became Permanent Judge on November 4, 2008. He was transferred to Allahabad High Court on March 15, 2019.

The Ministry of Law and Justice notified the same on Tuesday.

"In exercise of the powers conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Shri Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, senior-most Judge of the Allahabad High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from 26th June, 2021 consequent upon the retirement of Shri Justice Sanjay Yadav, Chief Justice, Allahabad High Court," the notification said.

Justice Yadav will retire on June 25 after a very short tenure as Chief Justice lasting a little over two weeks.
