Prime Minister Narendra Modi presented the Light House gift to the poor in Ranchi on the first day of the new year. He laid the foundation stone of the proposed light house project at Dhurva, in Ranchi through video conferencing. In Ranchi, 1,008 residential units are to be constructed under a total project of Rs 133.99 crore. Under this project a 315 sq ft one bedroom flat will be given to the weaker section of the society.In his address PM Modi said that housing construction also provides employment. He said that the dream of Housing for All may be fulfilled by such projects. Modi disclosed that the government is working fast to fulfil this dream. He expressed hope that the technique of six light houses will prove useful for the students."Workers also live life with dignity, for this, proper rental house should be arranged where they work" Said the PM. The government has also given exemption in GST on houses.
Narendra Modi while addressing said that there is a need to develop new and cheaper technology. People living in the city also have a dream to have their own house. The PM said that all the universities and engineering colleges of the country are requested to visit these sites and look at the technology. The Chief Minister should also help them . Whether or not it can change according to the country. The light house project is being started at different sites. New technology is being used in this. There will be no brick and mortar in the house built in Indore. The houses will be cheap and will be built fast. Home will be built with 3D system in Ranchi. More than thousand houses will be built in a year. Prime Minister said Six light houses in the country are like lighthouse.
Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren said that Jharkhand is a very backward state. Here 1008 houses are to be constructed through light houses. Center, state and beneficiary will have a stake in it. Soren said that the income of the people is very less. There is a need to think how the economic burden of the poor is reduced. Soren lauded the housing scheme provided for urban and rural areas .This will take care of the urban villagers.
Light house projects are being constructed in Indore in Madhya Pradesh, Rajkot in Gujarat, Chennai in Tamil Nadu, Ranchi in Jharkhand, Agartala in Tripura and Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh. It covers about 1,000 houses with associated infrastructure facilities at each location.
