ITBP summits twin peaks in Eastern Ladakh.Lhari Dorjee Lhatoo, IG along with members of North West Frontier Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), Mountaineering Expedition ‘Shikhar’ and Ladakh Police successfully summited twin peaks- 6250 meters & 6099 meters on Eastern Ladakh Borders on 6 October, 2021.
‘Shikhar’- with a team of 20 mountaineers including 4 women mountaineers of the ITBP and 2 personnel of the Ladakh Police, under the leadership of Commandant DS Negi of ITBP was launched on 28 September, 2021 from Leh.

The expedition was dedicated to Late Head Constable and mountaineer of ITBP Norbu Wangdus (From Ladakh) who died during climbing Mount Gangotri-1 in Uttarakhand after the team was hit by an avalanche in October, 2019.
The ITBP has named the peak 6250 meters as ‘Norbu Wangdus Peak’ in his memory. Raised in 1962 during the India-China war, the border guarding Force- ITBP has recorded more than 223 successful mountaineering expeditions till now, which is a unique record.
