The ITBP with the active support of ‘Fit India Campaign’ Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, have organized the first ever ‘Fit India- Mission 200 KM’ march in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan. This would be first such endeavor in ‘Fit India’ campaign to cover a distance of 200 KMs in one go. Apart from ITBP, the march will also have representation of more than 100 officials of various Central Armed Police Forces (BSF, CRPF, NDRF, RAF, Assam Rifles, NSG etc) and Rajasthan Police, MP Police etc under the leadership of S S Deswal, DG ITBP.
Union Sports and Youth Affairs minister Kiran Rijiju launched the march in Jaisalmer on Saturday. Rijiju praised the ITBP for the initiative and said that such missions are inspiration for the masses to keep themselves fit.the march will follow the route through sand dunes (desert) of Sakhirewala, Bhuttewala, Katoch, then towards to the Indira Gandhi canal and will be completing the 200 KMs distance at River Division (RD) 1458 on 2 November, 2020. Total 53 Kilometers route will be desert area in the route. For most of the part during the march, the track runs along the International Boundary known for many battles and war. Kishangarh fort is a prominent feature en-route. Second half of the track runs along Indira Gandhi Canal.
