Independence Day brings relief to Mumbai citizens

As announced by Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerey, Mumbai local train services resumed for general commuters after four months on Independence Day. Fully vaccinated commuters were allowed to avail the services of local trains. Verification of vaccination certificates and issuing of universal pass was taking place out side the station.The state government on Thursday, August 12 had launched an e-pass facility  for fully vaccinated citizens. The Brihanmumbai  Municipal Corporation (BMC) said that the Universal Travel Pass system had been developed to make it possible for citizens to obtain an e-pass conveniently. Using the e-pass will be now available to those citizens who are fully vaccinated and completed 14 days after the second dose. After showing e-pass saved in mobile at the ticket window at suburban railway stations, the citizen will get a  monthly travel pass directly from the railways.

Take pledge to get rid of Covid -19 – CM Thackerey 

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackerey said the government will impose a fresh lockdown if there is a surge in Covis-19 cases in Maharastra. In his address after flag hoisting on the occasion of Independence Day at the Mantralaya, he said  the state government has relaxed Level 3 restrictions by allowing the fully vaccinated people to commute in Mumbai local trains and opening of shops  up to 10 pm but if the situation worsens, lockdown may be imposed again.

Reminding people that Covid -19 is not over yet ,he called upon citizens to take a pledge to together overcome the crisis. He said let us resolve together that we will make Maharashtra and the country pandemic-free so that we can celebrate next Independence Day without masks and with much zeal and enthusiasm. He also paid tributes to corona warriors who lost their lives while fighting the coronavirus. He also interacted with doctors and nurses engaged in battling the virus.

Delta Plus death toll reaches five: Rajesh Tope calls for caution

Maharashtra  Health Minister Rajesh Tope said on Saturday that all the five people who have succumbed to the Delta Plus variant in the state so far had comorbidities and were over 65 years. Speaking to the reporters . Tope said it could not be confidently said that these deaths were only due to the Delta Plus variant,  however he appeals all to be alert. The Minister said that the Directorate of Medical Education and Research has been collecting 100 samples from every district to keep track of the spread of the variant.
