Hansa Singh : Life’s unpredictable challenges have been instrumental in shaping me into the confident

On this Teachers’ Day, honor those who guide through the paths of knowledge, actress, tarot card reader, Astro Healer, and Clairvoyant Hansa Singh reflects on her journey in the entertainment industry. Known for her roles in projects like Human, Criminal Justice 3, and the film Goodbye, Hansa shares her unique perspective on the mentors who shaped her path and the profound lessons life has taught her.
"In life, from time to time, we get various teachers who hone our skills, tell us about the right and wrong, but Life itself is the biggest teacher with the curve balls it throws for us to find the right tuning to ourselves, and this is where you own what you do," Hansa shares with a contemplative tone. For her, life’s unpredictable challenges have been instrumental in shaping her into the confident, nonchalant woman she is today. Hansa’s journey into Bollywood wasn’t planned; it was pure destiny. "Stepping into Bollywood was pure destiny as it wasn’t a direct thought process. Thrown to swim or die, destiny played its game and made me swim to reach where I am today." She emphasizes how the wisdom and guidance she received during her childhood were her first support system as she embarked on a new, unfamiliar journey.
Reflecting on her early days in the industry, Hansa recalls the invaluable support from those who believed in her when acting was something "out of the syllabus" for her. "All the actors and directors I worked with helped me in believing in myself," she says with gratitude. Among the many who aided her, she particularly remembers Saurabh Dubey, who introduced her to casting directors, and Pradeep Rawat, whose family provided her with unwavering support. But the most significant influence in her life was the late Jag Mundhra, a mentor and friend who, as Hansa puts it, "escalated me to somebody." She credits him for helping her become the person she is today. "He was the one person who helped me to be truly what you see me as today. The confident, nonchalant Hansa."
Jagmohan Mundhra, fondly called Jag a renowned filmmaker, introduced her to the corporate world and the who's who of the industry, helping her grow both as an artist and an individual. "We did a film together, Betrayed by Passion, where I wanted to do the lead role. But it required skin exposure. He categorically told me first to take permission from your folks, and when I said it’s ok, yet he didn’t ask me, 'I can’t ask you to expose more as a director.'" Hansa remembers this moment fondly as an example of the integrity and respect that also exist in the industry, despite its often tarnished reputation. As she looks back on her journey, Hansa Singh expresses her deep gratitude for all the mentors, friends, and life experiences that have shaped her. "The world of cinema I know through him," she says about Jag Mundhra, "Thank you, Jag, just wish you were alive and making more films."
