Rain-related incidents claimed 29 lives in Gujarat, around 40,000 people have been evacuated.in the last 4 days, while another 8,500 people were relocated and rescued from flood-affected areas with rains continuing to lash some parts of the state for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, officials said.Authorities are carrying out relief and rescue operations involving the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), its state counterpart SDRF, the Army, the Indian Air Force and the Indian Coast Guard.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi called up Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel to take stock of the situation and to ensure Centre's support in the crisis.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a ‘red alert’ for several districts, predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next five days. Residents in affected areas, particularly in the Saurashtra region, have been advised to avoid waterlogged zones and exercise caution. In Vadodara, power outages have occurred in some regions due to flooding.

Vadodara city remained inundated on the second consecutive day, the situation is “alarming” and the Army has been called in to carry out relief and rescue work, the state government said on Wednesday.Health Minister Rishikesh Patel and Minister Jagdish Vishwakarma visited Vadodara to assess the damage and the relief and rescue operations.

The major dams of Saurashtra such as Machchu 1 and Machhu 2 and Machchu 3 dams are overflowing and their gates have been opened. More than 1000 routes of Gujarat State transport especially in flood hit regions of Saurashtra and Central Gujarat have been closed due to waterlogging.
Due to incessant rainfall in the Vadodara area of Gujarat, several express trains traveling from Mumbai to Gujarat have been cancelled. The affected trains include the Saurashtra Janta Express, Lokshakti Express, and Saurashtra Mail. Additionally, the timings of the Ranakpur Express, Bhagat Ki Kothi Express, and Jaipur Express have been changed and delayed.
