Gujarat Assembly session revised, House to meet from Sept 9

The dates for the ninth session of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly have been revised, with the House now scheduled to meet from September 9 to 11 instead of the earlier announced September 8 to 10, according to sources.
According to a notification issued by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretariat on Monday, Governor Acharya Devvrat cancelled the summons issued on August 3, under which the ninth session was scheduled to begin on September 8.A fresh summons was issued on August 31, revising the start date to September 9. The session will continue for three days — September 9, 10 and 11.
During the session, the House will take up government business, government Bills, the Last Day Motion and other matters recommended by the Business Advisory Committee.The revised schedule also brings a change in the Question Hour programme. Assembly Speaker Shankar Chaudhary has decided that starred questions will be taken up during Question Hour on all three days of the session.
The earlier programme had provided for sittings on September 8, 9 and 10. With the fresh summons, the entire three-day schedule has been shifted forward by one day.The Business Advisory Committee will decide the detailed business to be taken up during the sittings.The three-day session is expected to provide legislators an opportunity to raise constituency-related issues through questions and other legislative proceedings, apart from discussing government business and Bills.The change in dates was formally communicated by the Gujarat Legislative Assembly Secretariat following the Governor’s fresh summons.The House will now convene for its ninth session on September 9 and continue proceedings through September 11, with Question Hour scheduled on each of the three sitting days.
