The results of the Gujarat by-elections for Kadi and Visavadar Assembly seats were announced on Monday, with the BJP winning in Kadi and AAP securing victory in Visavadar.
In Kadi, BJP’s Rajendra Chavda won the seat by defeating Congress’s Ramesh Chavda and AAP’s Jagdish Chavda. The seat fell vacant after the death of BJP MLA Karsanbhai Solanki. With this win, the BJP managed to retain the seat.In Visavadar, AAP’s Gopal Italia emerged as the winner with 75,942 votes. He defeated BJP’s Kirit Patel and Congress candidate Nitin Ranpariya. This win is seen as a major boost for AAP in Gujarat.
The voting for both seats was held on June 19. Visavadar recorded a voter turnout of 56.89%, while Kadi saw a slightly higher turnout at 57.90%.These results show a mixed outcome while BJP held on to its traditional seat in Kadi, AAP made inroads by winning in Visavadar.
