Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred with ‘The Order of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago’. Speaking on the occasion, Mr Modi said he is honoured to be conferred with the country’s highest national award. He said he accepts it on behalf of 140 crore Indians. Prime Minister Modi met the President of Trinidad and Tobago, Christine Kangaloo, at the President’s House, Port of Spain.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech on Friday at the Parliament of Trinidad & Tobago was met with resounding applause from the Members of Parliament. During his address to the Joint Assembly at the iconic Red House, PM Modi expressed gratitude and said he felt humbled to be the first Indian Prime Minister to address the esteemed House. PM Modi highlighted the warm and historic ties between India and Trinidad & Tobago. His speech was interrupted more than 20 times by warm applause from the MPs.“This historic Red House has witnessed the struggles and sacrifices of the people of Trinidad and Tobago for freedom and dignity. Over the past six decades, it has stood strong as you’ve built a just, inclusive, and prosperous democracy,” PM Modi said. He praised the leadership of President Kangaloo and Prime Minister Persad-Bissessar, both of Indian descent, calling them “living symbols of the relationship between our countries, built on shared roots and shared dreams.” PM Modi reflected on the journey of both nation. Terming terrorism as the enemy of humanity, PM Modi said the global community must stand united to deny it any shelter or space.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on the way to Beunos Aires from Port of Spain, as part his 5-nation visit that aims to reinforce India’s engagements with Global South. He will be arriving in the Argentine Capital in the evening (early morning India time). Prime Minister will be in Argentina on 4th and 5th July, on the invitation of President Javier Milei.This will be the first Bilateral Visit to Argentina by an Indian Prime Minister in 57 Years. The discussions will review the ongoing cooperation and explore ways to enhance the strategic partnership between the two nations
