FDC medicines banned, Harms of combination drugs

Indian government has banned 156 medicines in which two or more medicines have been added. These combinations are found to be useless, sometimes even harmful. Moreover, companies sell these cocktail drugs at exhorbitant rates, bypassing drug price control orders of the government. What are combination drugs/ cocktail medicines/ fixed dose combination (FDC) drugs? How can they harm patients, common users? Why do companies make them at all? Why do doctors prescribe such medicines? What are some common examples of combination drugs? How many FDC drugs have so far been banned in India? In Hindi, the channel is run by lifelong social communicator, Manoj Pandey.
