Former MP and suspended JD(S) leader Prajwal Revanna was on Friday convicted by a Special Court in Bengaluru in one of the four sexual abuse and rape cases registered against him. Special Court Judge Santosh Gajanan Bhat will announce the quantum of punishment on Saturday.The court, which concluded hearings in the matter on July 18, deferred the judgment on July 30, citing the need for certain clarifications. During the trial, the court examined Revanna, who was arrested on May 31 last year, and all 26 witnesses. It then framed charges against him under various sections, including rape, voyeurism, criminal intimidation, and unlawful circulation of intimate images. A woman who worked as a domestic help at Revanna's family's farmhouse accused Revanna of repeatedly raping her since 2021 and threatening to release videos of the abuse if she revealed the incidents to anyone.Special public prosecutor Ashok Nayak says, "This happened 3-4 years ago, but she could not raise her voice due to her poverty."

He was convicted by the Special Court for People’s Representatives in a rape case filed against him by a domestic worker from KR Nagar in Mysuru, Karnataka. The verdict was delivered just 14 months after the case was registered, with the trial concluding at a remarkable pace. Revanna, who appeared visibly emotional in court, broke down and was seen crying as he left the courtroom following the verdict.
