The Enforcement Directorate (ED) conducted raids on multiple premises belonging to the Siddhartha Group of Institutions, owned by Karnataka home minister G Parameshwara, on Wednesday. As per report, ED officials arrived early in the morning and began scrutinising documents at several locations, including Siddhartha Medical College and Hospital in Tumakuru, Siddhartha Institute of Technology (SSIT), Siddhartha Engineering College, the head office of the Siddhartha Group located in Siddhartha Nagar, and the Siddhartha Medical College campus near T Begur in Nelamangala in a money laundering case connected to Kannada film actor Ranya Rao’s gold smuggling case. Separate teams of ED officials carried out the raids simultaneously at three major centres, with over 30 personnel reportedly involved in the operation. The officials arrived in about nine vehicles and began inspecting records at the respective campuses. According to report,Parameshwar recently bought an engineering college belonged to a minority ex MLA Shafi Ahmed. It is also said he invested in several prime real estate properties in Tumakuru city.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar defended his colleague, stating, “I am sure there is no way the Home Minister is involved… he is a decent and simple man." The party has demanded an end to what it describes as selective targeting and harassment of opposition figures holding constitutional positions. The Congress party has strongly condemned the raids conducted at institutions linked to Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, calling them politically motivated. Congress leaders allege that Parameshwara is being targeted because he is a prominent Dalit leader within the party. “This is nothing but political vendetta," said Saleem Ahmed, adding that the BJP is using central agencies to undermine key leaders ahead of elections.
