Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that schemes and programmes of the central and state governments are bringing a big change in the lives of women and giving them security. Prime Minister was participating in a program on women empowerment which was attended by over 2 lakh women at Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.Many of them were beneficiaries of different government schemes. PM also spoke to some women beneficiaries on the occasion.
Addressing the programme, PM Modi said that the nation is watching how UP is working for the empowerment of women and double-engine government has given security and increased the dignity of the women of Uttar Pradesh.Taking a dig at the previous governments PM said that safety and security of women were at stake during those regimes and political interference was rampant. Talking about the ambitious plan of supplementary nutrition distribution system PM said that this is a big step towards changing the life of women and empowering them.
He said that Bank Sakhi's has brought Bank to the doorstep of people. They are doing transactions of around 75 thousand crores in the villages of state. PM said that after coming into power in 2014 his government started many schemes for the betterment of the lives of girls and women. Talking about the change Beti Bachao Beti Padhao scheme PM said that now girl sex ratio is increasing in many states. PM specially mentioned the initiative by his government to put women's name in the owner of the property also and said that under the PM Awas scheme women are getting priority in the registry and out of 30 lakh houses constructed under the scheme 25 lakh are registered on the name of women of the concerned families.
In this endeavour to support women, the Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of 202 Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units and transferred an amount of Rs.1000 crore in the bank account of Self Help Groups (SHGs), benefitting around 16 lakh women members of the SHGs. The programme also witnessed the Prime Minister encouraging Business Correspondent-Sakhis (B.C.-Sakhis), by transferring Rs. 4000 as first month's stipend in account of 20,000 B.C.-Sakhis. During the programme, the Prime Minister also transferred a total amount of over 20 crore to more than 1 lakh beneficiaries under the Mukhya Mantri Kanya Sumangala Scheme.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on the occasion that according to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his government is running many programs for the welfare of UP. From today the Supplementary Nutrition scheme worth around rupees 4000 crores goes into the hands of women completely in Uttar Pradesh. From now on, the women of self-help groups will supply supplement nutrition district-wise. The government is going to construct Supplementary Nutrition Manufacturing Units at every district and block level. Production has already started in Fatehpur and Unnao units. Now the women of rural areas will prepare the supplement nutrition and the raw material will also be purchased from the villages. The government will also construct warehouses for the storage of supplement Nutrition. it will not only make around 10 lakh women of state self-reliant but will also pave way for the economic development of the villages.
