Residential areas such as Ambattur, Avadi, and Vadapalani experienced rising floodwaters, with locals citing poor stormwater drainage. Commuters were advised to avoid submerged stretches and use routes like Anna Salai and Poonamallee High Road. The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP) reported widespread disruptions, with subways and underpasses inundated, turning major routes into dangerous waterlogged zones. Several critical areas, like Sholinganallur-Medavakkam Road and the Manali-Thiruvottiyur stretch leading to long traffic snarls. Flooding in the Manangkondan River in Nagapattinam district has cut off road access to Karuppapulam village, submerging over 100 acres of paddy fields and causing extensive agricultural losses.
