Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has reaffirmed his commitment to fulfilling Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of Viksit Bharat by building a stronger, more integrated road infrastructure network across Gujarat. In a major step toward improving transportation and connectivity, the Chief Minister has approved an allocation of Rs7,737 crore for 124 projects under various schemes of the Roads and Buildings Department.Recognising the vital role of roads and bridges in economic development, Patel has directed the department to enhance road connectivity across the state, ensuring safe and convenient access even to the most remote regions through a robust network of quality roads.Of the total allocation, Rs5,576 crore has been approved for nine Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridors spanning 809 kilometres. These corridors are designed to improve safety, speed, and convenience on heavily trafficked routes.
According to information,key approvals include Rs67.43 crore for 92.23 km of the Bagodara–Dhandhuka–Barwala–Botad route, Rs158.6 crore for 67.30 km of the Botad–Dhasa–Chavand–Amreli–Bagasara–Bilkha–Mendarda corridor, and Rs81.38 crore for 48.55 km of the Mendarda–Keshod–Mangrol stretch. Further allocations include Rs858.39 crore for the 105.05 km Unjha–Patan–Shihori–Deodar–Bhabhar route, Rs331.16 crore for the 71.10 km Karjan–Dabhoi–Bodeli road, and ₹1,514.41 crore for 167.54 km connecting Dehgam–Bayad–Lunawada–Santrampur–Zalod. Additionally, Rs640.30 crore has been sanctioned for 143.30 km of the Ahmedabad–Harsol–Gambhoi–Vijayanagar route, ₹861.71 crore for 49.90 km of Santrampur–Morwa Hadaf–Santroad, and Rs1,062.82 crore for 64.05 km of Santroad–Devgadh Baria–Chhota Udepur road.The construction of these new high-speed corridors is expected to significantly enhance logistics efficiency under the PM Gati Shakti framework, reduce operational costs, and stimulate industrial and infrastructure growth. Improved connectivity with major urban centres will also boost tourism and regional trade.
In addition, Rs1,147 crore has been sanctioned to make Gujarat’s road infrastructure more climate-resilient and technologically advanced. Twenty projects spanning 271 kilometres will employ innovative materials and techniques such as waste plastic, white topping, geo-grid and glass grid, cement stabilisation, fly ash, and green technologies. These initiatives aim to build durable, eco-friendly roads with reduced life-cycle costs.A further Rs986 crore has been approved for 79 projects covering 803 kilometres to upgrade surface quality and ensure smoother state roads.In this year’s budget, the Chief Minister had announced plans to develop 12 new high-speed corridors covering 1,367 kilometres under the Garvi Gujarat High-Speed Corridor project to modernise the state’s road network. With nine corridors now approved, Patel has taken a decisive step toward advancing the vision of Viksit Gujarat, ensuring improved connectivity, enhanced safety, and greater ease of living for citizens.
