Chhattisgarh and Punjab governments have announced Rs 50 lakhs each to the deceased farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri mowed to death incident in Uttar Pradesh. Chief Minister of both the states Bhupesh Baghel and Charanjeet Channi respectively along with Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Ms Priyanka Gandhi visited to the families of the deceased farmers and and a journalist at Lakhimpur Kheri and express their grief and sorrow on the unfortunate incident. Earlier Rahul Gandhi along with both the CMs reached at Lucknow airport but did not allowed to come out from the airport. Leaders sat on dharana at the airport. Lateron they were allowed to move by their own vehicles. Congress leader Ms Priyanka Gandhi was also released from detention at Sitapur and joined the Congress delegation. Congress leaders have demanded immediate arrest of son of Union Minister of State for Home named in the FIR. They have also demanded resignation of the Minister Ajay Misra Toni. Meanwhile a sikh farmer from Baharaich who was also killed in the incident cremated. His family members were not satisfied with the postmortem report and had demanded second postmortem which was conducted on Wednesday.
It was alleged that four farmers were crushed to death while protesting against the Dy CM of the State Keshav Prasad Maurya and Union Minister of Home Ajay Misra Teni at Banwaripur area of the district. Agitating farmers had parked tractors and trollies at the helipad constructed for Dy CM Maurya's helicopter landing. He tried to reach on the venue by road but returned back due to farmers agitation.State government has sent Additional Chief Secretary Devesh Chaturvedi, ADG law and order Prashant Kumar and IG Lucknow Ms Laxmi Singh to on the spot. TMC MPs had visited the Lakhimpur Kheri on Tueasday and met the injured farmers and family members of deceased farmers.
