"Research and consult a professional before following tips from social media: Celebs speak on doctor's remarks on following medical advice given by random influencers".Zerodha CEO Nithin Kamath, a few weeks ago shared that he suffered a mild stroke, and is recovering well. While the news came as a shock to everyone, what caught their attention was the caution from doctors asking people not to follow any medical advice given by random influencers on social media. Celebrities have expressed their opinion on this, and here’s what they had to say:
Jason Tham
The problem with our society is that we have given too much control to others to influence us without making our own analysis. Social media is no longer a safe place like before. It’s all about the likes, the subscribers, and the money. I won’t say all of them are like that. Many are there genuinely to help and give informed suggestions. But it’s annoying to see influencers without proper knowledge about health. One of the biggest pros and cons of our democratic country is that you can say or teach everything and anything you want. I just feel that at the end, it’s on us and what we choose to do with that information.
Sara Khan
Knowledge is important, but it is also very important to get the knowledge from the right source. We must never blindly follow anyone. I believe today people believe in the number of followers and not the influencers. I will not blame people trying to gain views or followers, but as a viewer, it’s their responsibility to consult the right person before doing anything to themselves. We, as viewers, need to keep our eyes open. It’s good to look up to someone to get better or to get successful, but if you do it blindly without using your brain, you can harm yourself. I always study and consult with the concerned person before I add any regime to my daily lifestyle. I'm still trying to understand the meaning of influencers these days. A large number of followers can give anyone the tag of an influencer.
Sheeba Akashdeep
Social media has actually made people a bit insane, and it's very difficult to separate the truth from fiction. You have to be extremely vigilant and careful about who you follow and what advice you take to heart. People are posting random stuff without proper research and education. There are many web MDs who have actually learned everything from the web, and it's dangerous. You have to be careful about what you do. I do not follow any influencer blindly. I prefer to do research. If I feel something is making sense, I will do my own research. This influencer thing has gone very wrong because people need to know that all that they see on social media is not necessarily true. You have to check and use your own brain.

It is depressing to observe that influencers without the necessary qualifications are giving out health advice in the current digital era. Indeed, there are concerns about public health associated with the influencer trend if it is not handled carefully. It is vital that you understand the possible hazards linked to adhering to unskilled advice. Some people can be posting just to get likes and views, unaware of the responsibility that comes with guiding others in their choices about their health. If viewers blindly believe these influencers, that's problematic. I'm picky about who I follow and give preference to reliable sources.

Jason Tham to make his podcast debut with the Indian Marvel’s Wastelanders

Jason Tham, actor, choreographer, and voiceover artist, is making his podcast debut with the fourth season of the Hindi version of Marvel’s Wastelanders. The new series will launch on Audible on March 13. He will be giving voice to the character of Justin. “There's a production house called MnM Talkies, which does dubbing and all, and they approached me for this podcast. I have done normal dubbing for films, shows, and series, but nothing as compared to or on a bigger scale as this. It is my debut podcast with a very exciting project, and I'm fortunate that they selected me for this,” he said.
The series has a voiceover by Sharad Kelkar for the character of Wolverine, Mithila Palkar as Sofia, Neelam Kothari as Jean Grey, Aadil Khan as Captain America, and Vijay Vikram Singh as Professor X/Charles Xavier, to name a few. Jason’s character, Justin, is Sofia’s love interest.Speaking about the preparation he did for his part, he said, “They gave me a reference as to what they're looking at, and I came pretty close to it, I feel. In the first test that I gave, they really liked the quality of my voice and said that I had a knack for it because I was good at dubbing. I modulated my voice in such a way that it was something very similar to what they were looking for, and I also added my own spice, my own vibe, and my own touch, which they really liked, and I just had to send a tape to them. I think that pretty much did everything, and the very second or third day I got a call saying that you're on board and we will be more than happy to have you on this project.”
“So I didn't have to do a lot for this project because I do dubbing for my films, series, and ads. But this was very different because this is a podcast, it's narrating a story and giving life to a character,” he added.Praising Sharad, who is one of the most recognisable voices in Bollywood, Jason said, “We all work on different days of dubbing where we had a teacher, a voice teacher who would be giving us cues. I have not personally worked with Sharad Kelkar, although I know Sharad from our days of shooting for Agent Raghav on &TV back in 2016. So the moment I got to know that he was playing Wolverine, we had a small chat, and we both laughed that we were both part of a project, but we weren't working together but actually working on the same project.“
Jason strongly believes that podcasts have a bright future in India. He said, “It really took the momentum during the pandemic when people didn't have jobs or didn't have work. I think this was one of the biggest sources of income for many people for podcasts, and I feel that momentum is still going on and many people are starting this.”

Actress Jyoti Saxena On Women's Day Says, It isn't a day about discounts

*Women's Day 2024 - Jyoti Saxena says, "It's high time we realize that what we truly need is equality in its truest sense—equal pay, equal opportunities, and gender equality across all spheres of life"*As the world gears up to celebrate International Women's Day on March 8th, actress Jyoti Saxena voices a poignant reminder that the essence of this day transcends mere token gestures. Jyoti Saxena has always been very vocal about her thoughts and opinions and as the world celebrates Women's Day, the actress underscores the significance of shifting the narrative from superficial perks to substantive societal change.
"I feel Women's Day is only a day where women are celebrated more, but honestly I feel each and every day is a women's day. Stressing in a world full of judgments can never be easy, but I feel women like me and everyone out there can do it with great strength and power. We don't need a day dedicated to discounts and freebies. We all are very capable of buying those things for themselves. What we truly need is equality in its truest sense—equal pay, equal opportunities, and gender equality across all spheres of life."
She further adds, "We are almost in the 20th century, still women are being categorized and type casted by many things which is a harsh reality. I feel true empowerment lies in dismantling systemic barriers that hamper women's progress. We don't need just a day to know that we are special, for discounts, or we need flowers or anything because I totally relate with Miley Cyrus who says, I can buy myself flowers. and also I can take myself on solo dates, solo trips, what I just want by the society is to be treated equally and not categorized as we can do much more things then a man can do.", exclaims Jyoti Saxena.
As the world celebrates the achievements and contributions of women, Jyoti Saxena's message serves as a powerful reminder that Women's Day is not just a day of celebration, but a catalyst for meaningful change. It's a day to reaffirm our commitment to building a world where every woman is valued, respected, and empowered to fulfill her potential.
Prasad Barve: Everyday is Women’s Day for a married man

Actor Prasad Barve says that all married men need to treasure their wives as much as they can. The actor, who has been part of projects such as Pritam Pyare Aur Woh and Mrs. Pammi Pyarelal, says that he will surely gift his wife something special this Women’s Day.“I believe after marriage, every day is Women's Day, in a husband’s life! (laughs). Jokes apart, I believe that every day should be treated as women's day by giving them respect whether it's your mother, sister, wife, daughter, friend, girlfriend, house helper, anyone,” he says.
He adds, “Well honestly, I haven't planned yet but as I am in the UK for my Marathi play. I would be getting something special for her from London. I especially like to buy miniature perfumes for my wife wherever I go.” Ask her what is the way to a woman’s heart, and he says, “Simply care lots and lots and lots of love and zero ignorance. That's the last thing you can do to break the heart.”
He adds, I feel my wife is always cool and composed and never makes hasty decisions. A woman is a great mother, sister, daughter-in-law, friend, guide, philosopher, cook, and a good interior designer as well. She does multiple tasks at the same time, which most men are not able to do.”
