The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered an FIR in the Aqil Akhter murder case against father of the deceased (former DGP, Punjab), Mother(former PWD Minister, Punjab), Wife and Sister of the deceased. The FIR was registered on the allegations that Aqil Akhter son of Mohammad Mustafa, former DGP Punjab, and Razia Sultana, former PWD Minister, Punjab, and presently residing at Sector 4, near Mansa Devi Mandir, Panchkula, had died under suspicious circumstances on October 16,2025.
There was simmering discontent between the deceased and his family. On 27th August, Aqil Akhter had publicly posted a video on social media wherein he stated that he had discovered illicit relations between his father and his own wife, and further mentioned that his entire family, including his mother and sister, were conspiring to kill him or to implicate him in a false case.
Earlier, the State Govt. of Haryana had transferred the investigation of FIR No. 131 dated 20.10.2025 registered at PS Mansa Devi Complex, District Panchkula, Haryana in connection with murder of Aqil Akhter, to the CBI. The CBI has registered the case U/s 103(1) and 61 of BNS, 2023 and taken over the investigation on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
The agency is expected to examine Aqil's electronic devices, social media posts, call records and other digital material, along with forensic reports and post-mortem findings.As of now, no arrests have been made so far, and the family has maintained that they will cooperate with the investigation.
