Since last 3 days the common people in Karnataka find it hard to commute due to the state transport employees strike. Over 1 lakh workers of the 4 state owned transport corporations are on strike demanding to make them government employees. The strike started on the third day of farmers strike on 10th and intensified further taking a cue from them. Farmers leader was also roped in to this labour strike making him their hon. president to lead the strike. There are about 20 thousand buses off the road.
Government says it is not possible to meet their demand during the corona period. Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has appealed to the striking employees to call off the strike and resume to duty. He said that their demands can be discussed if they end their strike. One round of talks with the transport minister has failed. This strike has put the people of the state in to lot of inconvenience particularly in rural areas. The opposition congress party leaders have visited the striking employees and pledged their support. They have demanded the government to solve this stalemate immediately.
