A rescue helicopter has located the burning fuselage of a Russian Antonov-24 passenger aircraft that went missing on Thursday in the far eastern Amur region, the Emergencies Ministry confirmed.The plane, operated by Siberia-based Angara Airlines, disappeared from radar screens while approaching its destination of Tynda, a town near the China-Russia border, after air traffic controllers lost contact just a few kilometres before landing, according to information.
According to regional governor Vasily Orlov, the aircraft was carrying 43 passengers, including five children, and six crew members, making a total of 50 people on board."All necessary forces and means have been deployed to search for the plane," Orlov stated on his official Telegram channel.Preliminary reports indicate that all on board are feared dead, Russian news agency TASS said.
The Antonov-24 had departed earlier in the day and was en route to Tynda Airport when it failed to establish contact at a designated checkpoint close to its destination, according to information.
