Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) recorded a 10 per cent year-on-year increase in revenue from its core services during the April-June quarter of FY27, reflecting steady progress in the government's efforts to revive the telecom operator.According to agency reports,BSNL's revenue from core services rose to Rs 4,418 crore in the first quarter of FY27, up from Rs 4,017 crore in the corresponding period last year. The growth was primarily driven by strong performance in the Enterprise Business and Consumer Mobility segments.
The company's quarterly performance was reviewed by Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia during a strategic review and planning meeting with BSNL officials on Monday.During the meeting, Scindia assessed the business and operational performance of all 28 BSNL circles and discussed the company's roadmap for the next phase of growth. He stressed the need for sustained execution and operational discipline to maintain the current momentum.

BSNL's Enterprise Business emerged as the strongest-performing segment during the quarter. Revenue from the segment, which provides telecom and IT solutions to businesses and government organisations, increased 19.2 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,745 crore from Rs 1,463 crore in Q1 FY26.The Consumer Mobility business, which includes prepaid and postpaid mobile services, 3G and 4G offerings, and international roaming, also recorded healthy growth. Revenue from the segment rose 8 per cent to Rs 1,724 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 1,594 crore a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the Consumer Fixed Access segment, comprising landline and broadband services, generated revenue of Rs 960 crore, registering a marginal increase over the same period last year.Scindia described the quarterly performance as "a strong start to the financial year" and said BSNL's three key business segments were showing positive momentum.He said the company should continue building on this progress through disciplined execution, regular performance monitoring and a stronger focus on customer service.The minister also commended the BSNL circles in Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh West and Karnataka for their performance across key operational parameters.Emphasising the importance of improving service quality, Scindia directed BSNL circles to strengthen network uptime, reduce fault repair time and enhance the overall customer experience as part of the company's ongoing turnaround strategy.
