The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday released its 10th list of 9 candidates for the Lok Sabha Election 2024. The list has eight new names, while the party replaced its candidate from West Bengal’s Asansol. The party has earlier fielded Bhojpuri star Pawan Singh from Asansol, who has now been replaced by SS Ahluwalia.Of the 8 new names, 7 are from UP and one from Chandigarh where the party replaced sitting MP Kirron Kher with Sanjay Tandon. The saffron party has fielded Neeraj Shekhar, son of former PM Chandrashekhar, from UP’s Ballia, Parasnath Rai from Ghazipur, Jaiveer Singh from Mainpuri, Vinod Sonkar from Kaushambi, Praveen Patel from Phulpur, Neeraj Tripathi from Allahabad, and BP Saroj from Machhlishahr.The name of Rita Bahuguna Joshi has also been dropped from Allahabad. UP minister Jaiveer Singh Thakur would take on Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav's wife Dimple Yadav in the latter's stronghold of Mainpuri, is an MLA from Mainpuri Sadar assembly seat and is the minister for tourism.

BJP has also replaced its candidate in Phulpur and has fielded Praveen Patel from there. The sitting MP from there Kesri Devi Patel has been denied re-nomination. The seat was a bone of contention between BJP and its alliance partner Apna Dal Anupriya Patel), which had demanded that it be allowed to field its candidate from there.
