The BJP on Friday released the list of three candidates for the Uttar Pradesh Election. The party nominated it's UP unit Vice President Daya Shankar Singh from Ballia sadar seat denying renomination of sitting MLA and Yogi government Minister Anand Swaroop Shukla. A strong public resentment was being observed against him. Singh's wife and Yogi Government Minister Smt. Swati Singh was denied renomination from Lucknow Sarojani Nagar seat. Singh was also one of the claimant from this seat.Yogi Government Minister Anil Rajbhar has been renominated from Shivpur in Varanasi district. He will face OP Rajbhar's son there. Lalchand Chauhan will face SP candidate Dara Singh Chauhan from Ghosi.
Meanwhile, The electoral campaign has gained momentum in the state.Senior BJP leader and Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually addressed the voters of Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Hapur and Gautam Buddh Nagar on Friday. In his address at Jan Chaupal function, Modi said that Yogi government has improved law and order in last 5 years. BJP President JP Nadda campaigned in Jalaun district. Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra held door to door Campaign for Congress party candidates in Ghaziabad district. BSP chief Mayawati addressed a political rally in Amroha district while. Samajwadi party chief Akhilesh Yadav and President of Rashtriya lok dal Jayant Chaudhary campaigned in Agra for party candidates.
The elections for the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly will take place in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. The major political parties in the fray are the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Samajwadi Party (SP), Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Indian National Congress and debutant Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
