In a surprise move, the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday announced the appointment of Bihar minister Nitin Nabin as its National Working President.Nabin currently serves as a minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government, where he holds the Road Construction portfolio. An official order issued by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh said the appointment was approved by the party’s Parliamentary Board. “The BJP Parliamentary Board has appointed Shri Nitin Nabin, Minister, Government of Bihar, as the National Working President of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” the order stated.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Nabin on his elevation, describing him as a dedicated worker who has established a distinct identity within the party. The term of the current president, JP Nadda, had ended in 2024 but was extended in view of the 2024 general election.Nadda, who was also appointed as working president in June 2019,was formally declared as the new national president in January 2020.
