India saw a big jump in daily Covid deaths as Madhya Pradesh revised its official data and logged 1,478 deaths, taking India's count to 2,020 in the last 24 hours on Tuesday morning. Over the past few days, Madhya Pradesh has been reporting Covid-19 deaths below 100. In a notification on Monday, Madhya Pradesh added its backlog deaths, which has taken the country's Covid mortality rate tp 1,33 per cent.
With this, Madhya Pradesh’s Covid-19 toll has gone up to 10,506. In the notification, the state government has said that apart from the official tally, another 762 people died at private hospitals and 208 in home isolation.Another 508 deaths have also been reported from different districts of the state. The addition of 1,478 deaths pushed India's Covid-19 deaths to 2020 on Tuesday, said the Union Health Ministry in its update. The country's total number of Covid-19 deaths now stand at 4,10,784.
In a similar move, Bihar had also revised its Covid death toll and added 3,951 deaths as backlog. This pushed Bihar's Covid death toll to over 9,000 on June 9 after a court ordered audit of the deaths. The Bihar health department massively revised the Covid-19 death toll, adding about 72% more fatalities to the state’s figures.
