The 136th birth anniversary of Dr B. R. Ambedkar is being observed with due reverence across the country on Tuesday. President Droupadi Murmu paid floral tributes to the portrait of Babasaheb Dr B.R. Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at Lok Bhavan, Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Vice President C P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, Union Ministers and Members of Parliament also paid tributes to Dr B R Ambedkar at Prerna Sthal in the parliament premises, on the occasion of Ambedkar Jayanti. Meanwhile, grand celebrations are being held at Dr Ambedkar’s birthplace in Mhow, near Indore, where a large number of people have gathered to mark the occasion with devotion and enthusiasm.

Dr B.R. Ambedkar, popularly known as Babasaheb, was the chief architect of the Indian Constitution and served as independent India’s first Law and Justice Minister. Born into a socially disadvantaged family, he emerged as a leading voice for the rights of marginalised communities and remains a symbol of social transformation. He was conferred the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian award, in 1990.
