Assam Police on Monday arrested Reetom Singh, first arrest in connection with the doctored video of Union Home Minister Amit Shah circulating on social media and allegedly being shared by Congress leaders.Assam Police have taken the accused into custody and have proceeded with the investigation into the above-stated case.

And in Delhi, a BJP delegation on Monday met the Election Commission of India (ECI) over the issues of deep fake videos and violence in West Bengal during election. Briefing the media after meeting the ECI, senior party leader and Union Minister Ashwani Vaishnaw said that Congress party is misleading the people through posting deep fake videos on its social media platforms amid Lok Sabha election. He added, Trinamool Congress (TMC) is continuing practicing violence in West Bengal, which is intolerable. Vaishnav said, BJP wants free and fair elections in the country. “The Congress wants to derail the entire election process through a deep fake and morphed video (of Amit Shah). We raised a complaint before the Election Commission against it,” Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw who led a BJP delegation to the poll authority, told reporters in New Delhi.
