Apple Inc. is set to unveil a new domestic manufacturing commitment worth $100 billion on Wednesday, aimed at expanding production within the United States, according to a White House official familiar with the matter. The pledge, which would represent a new financial commitment, comes as part of President Donald Trump's continued push to bring manufacturing back to U.S. soil through aggressive trade and tariff policies. The White House official, speaking on customary condition of anonymity, said the announcement reflects ongoing efforts to safeguard America’s economic and national security by reshoring critical components.
“This announcement with Apple is another win for our manufacturing industry that will simultaneously help reshore the production of critical components to protect America’s economic and national security,” said White House spokeswoman Taylor Rogers in a statement.
In February, Apple stated it would invest $500 billion in the United States over the next four years. That plan includes a major new factory in Texas dedicated to artificial intelligence servers, and the creation of approximately 20,000 new R&D jobs across the country, according to information.
The new commitment comes at a time when the tech giant is navigating trade pressures. President Trump's tariffs reportedly cost Apple $800 million in the June quarter alone. In response, the company has been adjusting its supply chain—shifting iPhone production to India and sourcing other products such as Macs and Apple Watches from Vietnam. The final tariff rates for many of Apple’s products remain uncertain, with some currently exempt.
According to information, the previously announced $500 billion in expected spending from Apple includes a wide range of investments—from purchases from U.S.-based suppliers to domestic filming for its Apple TV+ content platform.Earlier, White House economic adviser Kevin Hassett told Fox Business Network that Apple was likely to make an investment announcement on Wednesday, as part of a broader trend of financial pledges by major corporations under the Trump administration.
