Aparna Yadav, Mulayam's daughter-in-law, joins BJP

Samajwadi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav's daughter-in-law Aparna joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday. The development comes weeks before the  Assembly election begins in Uttar Pradesh. Aparna Yadav joined the BJP in the presence of Uttar Pradesh's deputy CM Keshav Prasad Maurya and chief of BJP's UP unit Swatantra Dev Singh. "I am very thankful to the BJP. The nation always comes first for me. I admire PM Modi's work," she said soon after the ceremony at the BJP headquarters in Delhi.

"I have always been very vocal about the policies and ideologies of PM Modi and the BJP. Nationalism is a very important aspect of my life. I've always thought of the nation before anything," she further said. When asked about where she will contest the upcoming UP elections from, Aparna Yadav said she is ready to do whatever BJP tells her. She was welcomed to the BJP fold by UP chief minister Yogi Adityanath and other party leaders. "Welcome to the BJP family," Adityanath posted on micro-blogging website Koo. The Assembly elections in UP will be held in seven phases starting February 10. The counting of votes will be held on March 10.
