The Centre has constituted a committee to draft the final agreement on the Gorkha issue, BJP MP Raju Bista said on Saturday after a key meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Gorkha leaders and the West Bengal government.After listening to all the issues, the Home Minister concluded the meeting by outlining the path forward and the future resolution, Bista said.

Earlier,Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-stakes meeting at a resort in Sukna, near Siliguri in Darjeeling district, to deliberate on a permanent political resolution for the hill regions of Darjeeling, Kurseong, and Kalimpong. The gathering brings together key political figures from the Centre, the state, and the hills — marking one of the most significant attempts in recent years to address the long-festering Gorkhaland demand. West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Lok Sabha member from Darjeeling Raju Bista, and the three BJP legislators from the hill Assembly constituencies — Noman Rai (Darjeeling), Bharat Kumar Chhetri (Kalimpong), and Sonam Lama (Kurseong) — were in attendance. Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) president Bimal Gurung and GJM general secretary Roshan Giri were also present, as is Man Ghisingh, current president of the Gorkha National Liberation Front (GNLF) and son of the late GNLF founder-president Subash Ghisingh.Rajya Sabha MP Harh Sringla also attended the meeting.
Harsh V Shringla after meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, said, "A very good meeting was held in Siliguri. Representatives of the Gorkhas and several senior officials were present.The discussions were good, and I believe the process of finding a solution to the Gorkhaland issue has begun. A committee, headed by our Gorkhaland interlocutor Pankaj Singh, will examine the issue in detail and work towards finding a solution."
