4 injured after jumping from burning building in Delhi

Four people, including a toddler, were injured after jumping from the first floor of a building in northeast Delhi’s Gokal Puri area while attempting to escape a fire that broke out in the early hours of Sunday, officials said.According to information, the incident was reported around 2:30 am from a house in the F block of Chand Bagh near Bhajanpura. The blaze is believed to have started after two scooters and a motorcycle parked on the ground floor caught fire, quickly filling the building with dense smoke.

Before firefighters could reach the spot, four individuals  three women and a toddler jumped from the first floor to save themselves. They were identified as Nikhat (22), Rashida (50), Soni (25), and Ashif (2). All were rushed to Jag Pravesh Chand Hospital, where they were treated and later discharged after receiving first aid.Fire officials said eight other residents, including children, who were trapped on the upper floors amid heavy smoke, were rescued safely. The six-storey building’s compact structure led to rapid smoke accumulation, making evacuation challenging for occupants.
Multiple firefighting units were deployed to control the blaze, which was brought under control by around 3:50 am. Cooling operations are currently underway.Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire.
