Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw Saturday reviewed the progress of Ahmedabad Railway Station redevelopment and the Bullet train project at Anand in Gujarat. During a day-long visit to Gujarat, the minister went to Ahmedabad Railway Station with senior officials of the Western Railway Zone and inspected the construction work in detail. "The design and appearance of the station will reflect the culture and heritage of Ahmedabad," He mentioned that a two-and-a-half-year delay caused by permission issues during the tenure of former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is now being addressed. “The work on almost 360 km of the Bullet Train project has been completed. We are also working to compensate for the two-and-a-half-year delay caused due to the permission denial by (Uddhav) Thackeray,” said Vaishnaw. He further said that the Maharashtra section of the Bullet Train project is advancing well, with “almost 2 km of the undersea tunnel completed.”

Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu inspected the Mumbai-Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) project for the first time on Saturday and praised the initiative as a crucial step toward India’s infrastructural development.The Bullet Train project, developed in collaboration with Japan, marks a significant step in India’s infrastructure development. It is expected to enhance regional connectivity, boost economic growth, and create employment opportunities in the western states of Gujarat and Maharashtra.The MAHSR project, connecting key business hubs such as Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, and Ahmedabad, passes through high-growth regions in Gujarat and Maharashtra. The total sanctioned cost of the project is Rs 1,08,000 crore.
