2nd ODI: Australia beat India by 51 runs

Australia defeated India by 51 runs in the second ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Sunday. With this win, the Aussies have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. After electing to bat first, the hosts posted a mammoth 389-run total after the top five batters notched fifty plus scores. Openers David Warner Aaron Finch hammered the Indian bowlers all around the park. Steve Smith (104) struck his second successive hundred of the series to set up the home side’s win. He notched up the century in just 66 balls.

In reply, India finished with 338 for 9, losing the game by 51 runs. Skipper Virat Kohli was top-scorer for India with his 89-run knock. KL Rahul contributed 76 runs off 66 balls, including 5 maximums. Australia had won the series-opener by 66 runs on Friday. India started the big chase in earnest with the in-from Shikhar Dhawan (30) and Mayank Agarwal (28) dealing in boundaries from the onset. Australia fast bowler Pat Cummins picked up 3/67 in his 10 overs.
