In Karnataka, Congress' win all the three assembly seat for which by polls was held. The party's C.P. Yogeshwara wins Channapatna Assembly by-elections in Karnataka, by a margin of 25,413 votes defeated his nearest rival .He JD(S)' Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who is the son of union minister H D Kumarswamy. Nikhil Kumaraswamy, the Gowda scion lost in his home-turf for the third time in a row. In Shiggaon, BJP candidate and former chief minister Basavaraj Bommai's son Bharat lost the race. n Sandur, E Annapurna the wife of Congress' E Tukaram defeated BJP’s Bangaru Hanumanthu.
Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar said that the current victory is a stepping stone for 2028 elections for the Congress party. He said, “This win is nothing but public expressing their happiness about the Congress party's governance. BJP should now atleast stop baseless allegations on the Congress party. People are not going to trust you anymore.”
The candidates that won from these seats in 2023 assembly elections vacated to contest in Lok Sabha polls and they fell vacant. The ruling Congress party and the BJP-JDS hope to secure the seats and prove their mettle in the southern state.
