A vibrant confluence of culture, tradition, and artistic excellence marked the conclusion of the three-day Indian Folk Carnival in Ahmedabad, an event that celebrated Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visionary initiative of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. Organised by the Gujarat Lok Kala Foundation in collaboration with the State Government’s Tourism Department and the Department of Sports, Youth, and Cultural Activities, the carnival brought together over 1,000 folk artists from across India. The event aimed to connect the younger generation with the country's diverse folk traditions through multimedia shows and modern reinterpretations of age-old art forms. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel presided over the grand closing ceremony and lauded the carnival’s role in preserving and promoting India’s rich folk heritage. “The Indian Folk Carnival is a noteworthy effort that connects traditional folk art with the youth through modern interpretations, while embodying PM Modi's vision of Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi,” the Chief Minister said.

The carnival featured an array of traditional performances over three days—beginning with Gujarat’s folk dances, followed by tribal performances from different states on the second day, and culminating in a national-level showcase of folk dances on the final day. More than 50 folk dance performances, two engaging workshops, and two art galleries added to the festival’s cultural vibrancy.
During the ceremony, the Chief Minister extended heartfelt congratulations to Padma Joravarsinh Jadav, the founder of the Gujarat Lok Kala Foundation, for his unwavering dedication to folk arts. Jadav and his foundation have long championed the cause of folk artists, currently supporting a network of over 5,000 performers and offering them a platform both in India and internationally.
Prominent dignitaries present at the closing event included Ahmedabad Mayor Pratibha Jain, renowned folk artist and Padma Bhikhudan Gadhvi, City BJP President Prerak Shah, and a large gathering of cultural enthusiasts. More than 10 awards were distributed to recognize outstanding performances and contributions to the field of folk art.
