In Group B match at the European Championship between Belgium and Russia played on Saturday, Romelu Lukaku delivered a heartfelt message to Denmark player Christian Eriksen after scoring the first of his two goals against Russia.
Before the kickstart at Saint Petersburg Stadium, the Belgium players took a knee as gesture against racism while Russian players remain stand amid loud jeers. Loud music was played while the gesture against racism was taking place but the boos were still audible.
On an emotional day, given the developments surrounding Christian Ericksen, a charged Belgium played to its strengths and was rarely threatened. This side looked dominant despite missing Kevin de Bruyne and despite Eden Hazard coming on for just a short cameo. Lukaku’s brilliant game powers Belgium to 3-0 win over Russia. He scored two goals while 3rd goal came from substitute Thomas Meunier. Meunier becomes the first player to score a first half goal as a substitute at EUROs.
