Jaishankar meets UN Envoys from 17 Nations

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar interacted with UN Permanent Representatives from 17 countries visiting India on a study tour on Tuesday, August,4,2026, emphasizing the need for reformed multilateralism reflecting Global South aspirations. Discussions during the visit covered technology, maritime safety, peacekeeping, development partnership, and disaster response.“Our discussions also touched upon technology, maritime safety, peacekeeping, development partnership and disaster response. Wish them a pleasant stay in India,” he added. This comes after India launched its campaign for a UNSC non-permanent seat for 2028-29, with a vision rooted in the SHANTI framework.In July, EAM Jaishankar launched India's campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2028-29 term in New York, outlining New Delhi's vision for a more representative, effective and future-ready global order.
