Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Tuesday said he has enquired about the health of actor Govinda, who sustained leg injuries after his revolver accidentally went off, and wished him a speedy recovery. Govinda has been an iconic figure in Indian cinema, Shinde said in a statement while assuring all necessary support to the actor and his family. Govinda released his first statement after suffering a bullet injury on Tuesday.The 60-year-old recorded an audio message from the hospital and thanked his doctor and fans for being supportive. The 90s Bollywood star confirmed that the doctors removed the bullet from his leg and he was feeling better now.
Govinda had accidentally shot himself in the leg with his licenced revolver early on Tuesday morning. He was immediately rushed to the hospital after the accident. The actor was reportedly getting ready for his early flight to Kolkata when he dropped the revolver from his hand and it misfired. The incident happened at around 4.45 am when he was cleaning the revolver. He was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) of Mumbai's CritiCare Hospital.Dr Agarwal told the media that Govinda is doing well adding that he got "around 8-10 stitches."
