The domestic share market traded positive on Wednesday led by strong buying across the sectors, barring realty.Positive corporate earnings for the June quarter, along with cautious optimism ahead of the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy decision later tonight, kept market sentiment firmly positive.At Close, the Sensex was up 888.68 points or 1.16 percent at 77,654.60, and the Nifty was up 264.85 points or 1.10 percent at 24,250.20.
Jio Financial Services, Hindustan Unilever, Infosys, Hindalco Industries and Larsen & Toubro (L&T) were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Adani Ports & SEZ, Mahindra & Mahindra (M&M), Power Grid Corporation, Eicher Motors and HDFC Life Insurance.On the sectoral front,all indices except realty closed in the green. The IT, Media, Metal, Pharma, Telecom, Private Bank, FMCG and Consumer Durables indices gained 1–2%, reflecting broad-based buying across sectors, according to agency reports.The broader market also ended higher, with the Nifty Midcap 100 index rising 0.8%, while the Nifty Smallcap 100 index adding 1.5%.
Rupee Close:
On 29 July'26,the Indian rupee rose 16 paise to close at 95.66 (provisional) against the US dollar on Wednesday, extending its gaining streak for the fourth straight session, amid hectic buying in domestic equity markets and lower global crude prices.Foreign capital inflows and a weak American currency ahead of the US Federal Reserve's interest rate decisions also supported the local unit, forex traders said.
