The domestic share market traded higher in a volatile session on Thursday as investors monitored the geopolitical situation in West Asia.At close, the Sensex was up 273.55 points or 0.35 percent at 77,928.15, and the Nifty was up 66.95 points or 0.28 percent at 24,317.15.
M&M, Eicher Motors, Maruti Suzuki, Coal India, Tech Mahindra were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Adani Ports, Shriram Finance, HDFC Life, UltraTech Cement and Jio Financial.On the sectoral front,Nifty Auto emerged as the top gainer, climbing 1.6%. On the downside, Nifty Realty was the biggest laggard, plunging 2%.Broader indices underperformed the main indices with Nifty midcap index falling 0.4 percent and smallcap index declining 0.6 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 30 July'26,the Indian rupee stayed steady for the fifth straight session and settled with a gain of 9 paise at 95.67 (provisional) against the US dollar on Thursday, taking cues from positive domestic equity markets and inflows of foreign capital.According to forex traders, a softening dollar also supported the local currency, but its upward move was restricted due to volatile crude oil prices, triggered by a fresh escalation of the war in West Asia.
