Sensex declines 456 pts, Nifty at 24,571 amid West Asia tensions

The domestic share market traded lower on Friday, weighed down by losses in financial stocks and rising crude oil prices.At close  Sensex settled 455.59 points or 0.58 percent lower at 78,499.17, while Nifty was down 65.35 points or 0.27 percent at 24,570.65.TCS,
Grasim Industries ,Hindalco Industries,Mahindra & Mahindra ,HCL Technologies were the top gainers on the Nifty, while losers included Bajaj Finance ,Bajaj Finserv,Trent ,ICICI Bank,JIO Financial Serv.On the sectoral front,PSU Bank, defence and metal indices were the strongest sectoral performers for the week, while the capital market index emerged as the biggest loser, according to agency reports.
The Nifty Midcap index and Bank Nifty also moved broadly in line with the benchmarks, gaining around 1 percent each.
Rupee Close:
On 7 Aug'26,the Indian rupee settled on a flat note on Friday , higher by just 2 paise at 95.22 (provisional) against the U.S. dollar, on heightened risk aversion due to fragile negotiations between Iran and Oman over the Strait of Hormuz.Forex traders said risk aversion in global markets due to uncertainty on the deal between Iran and Oman and an overnight jump in crude oil prices weighed on investor sentiments.
