Piyush Goyal urges joint efforts to boost Indian products globally

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has called for coordinated efforts by the government and industry to improve the global competitiveness of Indian goods and services and reinforce the country’s image as a reliable trading partner.
During an interaction with representatives of Export Promotion Councils (EPCs) in Delhi, Goyal discussed the changing global trade landscape, marked by geopolitical uncertainties, shifting tariff structures, supply chain realignments and new regulatory requirements in major international markets. He said these developments pose challenges for exporters but also offer India opportunities to strengthen its position as a reliable and competitive player in global trade, according to the Commerce Ministry.
Goyal stressed that Indian industries must remain flexible and respond effectively to the evolving international business environment. He urged exporters to prioritise product quality, innovation, cost efficiency, reliable supply and compliance with international standards to increase India’s participation in global value chains. The minister also pointed to growing interest in India as a manufacturing, sourcing and investment destination. He emphasised the need to convert such interest into concrete business opportunities through sustained engagement between Indian companies and overseas businesses.
Goyal encouraged EPCs to work closely with their international counterparts, identify prospective buyers and facilitate business partnerships in both established and emerging markets. He also called for greater product and market diversification to respond to changing global demand and take advantage of emerging supply chain opportunities.
The minister urged EPCs to identify products with untapped export potential, explore new markets and develop strategies tailored to specific destinations. He stressed the need to strengthen India’s existing competitive sectors while building capabilities in emerging areas.Goyal also highlighted government initiatives to improve the ease of doing business, upgrade trade infrastructure and address challenges faced by exporting enterprises. He described the Export Promotion Mission as an important initiative to address issues related to export finance, market access and international competitiveness, particularly for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
