The domestic share market extended its recovery for a second straight session on Tuesday,supported by broad-based buying and positive global cues.Meanwhile,Easing oil prices and reduced worries about a sharp monetary tightening by the US supported a higher market opening. The upward momentum continued through the day, with the RBI's policy decision due tomorrow remaining in focus.At close, the Sensex was up 685.34 points or 0.95 percent at 73,067.81, and the Nifty was up 220.35 points or 0.98 percent at 22,776.10.
Trent, Kotak Mahindra Bank, HUL, HDFC Life, Jio Financial were the top gainers on the Nifty,while losers included Coal India, Tech Mahindra, Max Healthcare, ITC and Infosys.On the sectoral front,Nifty Realty Index fell 0.7%, Nifty IT index shed 0.6% and Nifty PSU Bank index declined 0.3%. On the other hand, Nifty Bank, Consumer Durable, Energy, Infra, Media, FMCG, Metal, Pharma, Oil & Gas and Private Bank, Telecom up 0.5-2%, according to agency reports.Broader indices also ended higher with the Nifty Midcap index rose 1 percent and Smallcap index added 1.5 percent.
Rupee Close:
On 6 Oct'26,the Indian rupee declined 8 paise to settle at 96.43 (provisional) against the US dollar on Tuesday amid sustained outflows of foreign capital and uncertainties over a US-Iran deal.However, a drop in global crude oil prices and a weaker greenback capped the rupee's fall, according to forex traders.
