Seychelles Vice-President Ahmed Afif landed in New Delhi on Saturday, June 8, 2024, afternoon to participate in the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his council of ministers.Upon arrival, Afif was welcomed by Muktesh Pardeshi, Secretary (Consular, Passport, Visa and Overseas Indian Affairs) of the Ministry of External Affairs.India and Seychelles have significantly enhanced cooperation in various fields in recent years, primarily due to facing common security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR). This partnership is based on India's principles of SAGAR (Security And Growth for All in the Region), 'Neighbourhood First' policy, and the 'Five S' vision articulated by PM Modi—Sammaan (Respect), Samvaad (Dialogue), Sahyog (Cooperation), Shanti (Peace), and Samriddhi (Prosperity).
