ICP & Galgotia University tie-up for Child Protection Courses

In a major step towards expanding awareness on child rights laws and strengthening India’s child protection framework, India Child Protection’s Centre For Legal Action and Behavioural Change (C-LAB) for Children has joined hands with Noida based Galgotias University to launch a series of specialised certificate and diploma programmes. As part of the MoU, both C-LAB and Galgotias University would jointly develop and run courses in child protection, mental health, behavioural sciences and Forensic interviews and investigations of crime including CSEAM (Child Sexual Exploitative and Abuse Material) and POCSO cases. In India where over 480 crimes against children are reported every day (National Crime Records Bureau,  2023), these courses could change the face of the child protection ecosystem. For instance, the course on Applied Forensics would train officials on age-verification, following the money trail, Block Chain analysis, mental health insights and collecting legally tenable evidence in online crimes against children. Elaborating on the significance of such courses and tie-ups, Sampurna Behura, Executive Director, India Child Protection, said,  “This collaboration brings together two powerful strengths: the depth of academic research and the urgency of ground-level experience. Along with this, our strong legal experience and understanding of how cases unfold on the ground give us a clearer picture of what frontline professionals truly need. As crimes against children grow more complex, we cannot rely on outdated methods. We need trained professionals who understand technology, psychology, the law, and the realities of the field. These courses will help build a child protection ecosystem that is safeguarding every child.”  The MoU signed by Dr. N.K. Gaur, Registrar of Galgotias University, and Rajat Kumar, Trustee of ICP.
