Would prefer to become PM or UP CM, Mayawati scoffs at Akhilesh

BSP supremo Mayawati has hinted that she would prefer to become the prime minister someday to realise her goals for the downtrodden. Addressing a press conference in Lucknow on Thurday, she accuse the Samajwadi Party of spreading rumours she wanted to become the president of India, adding that she aspires to become the state's Chief Minister again and even the Prime Minister eventually as she doesn't want a life of comfort but one of struggle. “The reality is that the SP is dreaming of making me the president in order to clear the path (for Akhilesh Yadav) to become the CM of UP, which is not possible,” Mayawati said.  The BSP supremo claimed Akhilesh Yadav has realised that the SP will not return to power in Uttar Pradesh in future and is looking to “flee to a foreign country” where he has already made all the arrangements. This is being openly discussed, she said.

The BSP chief made the statement after the party general secretary SC Mishra and the party's lone UP MLA Uma Shankar Singh met with Yogi Adityanath at his official residence. Mayawati claimed the meeting was over the upkeep of monuments built during her tenure as Chief Minister. "The monuments made during our tenure were neglected by both the SP and the BJP governments, and to draw the attention of the state government to this, a delegation of the BSP led by SC Mishra went to meet Yogi ji," she added. "It is the SP that is responsible for all the atrocities that are happening against Muslims and others. He should give up his “childish and disgusting politics," she said.
