Thousands of people have fled Myanmar’s eastern Karen state into Thailand to escape military air strikes.Thailand’s public broadcaster has confirmed that about 3,000 people have arrived in the north-western Mae Hong Son province. Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said his government is preparing for a potential influx of refugees from Myanmar but how many we are not talking about that.Sithichai Jindaluang, Mae Hong Son governor, said more people will seek refuge as the conflict in Myanmar worsens. He said he is waiting for the government to issue clear instructions on how they can be helped. Local administration sources in Mae Sariang district,have said that there are no exact details on how many refugees have shown up because the area is overseen by the military and other agencies are prohibited access.

Myanmar security forces opened fire at a funeral as people across the country gathered Sunday to mourn 114 people killed in the worst crackdown on protests since last month's military coup. Violence also continued elsewhere in Myanmar.
